A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT ME

I was born in Watertown in 1965.  My younger years were spent in Needham then Irvine California, Durham North Carolina and back to Acton Massachusetts in the late 70s.  I look at the moving around as a great education.  My family then moved to Waltham where I spent my junior and senior years in high school at a Boston area college prep school.  I was elected to the national honor society and I lettered in varsity lacrosse and basketball as captain.  I was then off to Boston College where I majored in English with a minor in Fine Arts.  At the end of my Junior year I decided to broaden my horizons once again and moved to Martha's Vineyard for a number of years working in all aspects of construction.  At that time I held a class 2 license which allowed me to drive 10 wheel dump trucks for hauling all types of construction materials.  I became one of the foreman for the asphalt paving crew at White Brothers Construction Co. which gave me the opportunity to operate heavy equipment such as asphalt paving machines and Caterpillar loaders.  Operating those huge machines was a lot of fun.
In 1989 I moved to Providence, Rhode Island where I worked as a commercial painter by day and a bouncer (of all things) at night.
In 1991 I decided to finish my degree at Boston College.  I went back to school as an art major focusing on ceramics.  I concentrated on an ancient Japanese method of firing pottery called Raku and the glaze/clay chemistry associated with it.   I acquired a tremendous amount of information about both the technical and historical traditions in ceramics ranging from early roman terra-cotta to clay formulas used on the space shuttle for heat dissipation.  After I graduated deans list and won the fine arts award in 1993 the college offered me the position as the resident artist.  My work was shown in galleries all over the country including New York and Newbury Street in Boston.   I worked with many other artists in the Boston area on projects such as ice sculptures for First Night and the South Boston Open Studios.  I would have to say that I was totally immersed in the art scene.
This time in my life was very rewarding because I also had the opportunity to teach ceramics to high school students at Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall school in Waltham for four years.  I like to think that I had a positive influence on a number of kids who found ceramics class a fun way to express themselves.
In 1996 I bought a three family home in Somerville where I currently live.  In 1999 I Got my Real Estate license and went to work in my fathers office on Martha's Vineyard.  His office has been on the island for almost 30 years.  After a couple years of going back and forth between the island and Somerville I decided to look for a local office to work in.  I knew that I did not want to work for a franchise office such as Century 21 or Caldwell Banker.  Competing with 40 part time brokers for 5 minutes of up time and sharing a desk is just not my style.  In the process of looking for an office I ran across an old basketball buddy of mine at our health club.  Tom Scanlan said that his office was looking for highly motivated and knowledgeable brokers.  The rest is history.  I cannot imagine working in any other office.  We have a tremendous resource in the principals of this company.  They have all been doing real estate in this area for years.
I am a highly competitive person in both my personal life and in my business life.  My hobbies include website design, racquetball (which I play about 2-3 hours per day) and the biggest of all I am a member of  2 NASCAR pro-stock race teams.  We race at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut.  And seekonk speedway.  To see more about that check out the link at the bottom of my main page.  Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about who I am.
